Essences are small bottles of spring water, preserved with alcohol (or a tee-total equivalent) . Essences are made by placing flowers, or leaves, or bark, or shells, or fossils, or crystals in a bowl of water, and leaving it to infuse. According to the research of Masura Emoto water has ‘memory’, and is imprintable with human intention. The most important ingredient in this recipe is the intention of the person who makes the essence.

Subject of essence + environment + water + intention = 1 essence

Forgetmenot being prepared as an essence

By taking an essence, you introduce a new energy pattern into your system. Taking a few drops regularly over a period of time is like a drip-feed of healing energy that slowly and gently affects your aura. The energy of any one essence is specific, but can act broadly, depending on where a person’s energy blocks are. The taking of an essence gradually erodes the blocks of energy in the system, and helps give it a healthier configuration. Habitual stress-thoughts, for example, are a tax on the body and psyche. Taking essences slowly relaxes your mental and emotional knots. A popular view of essences is to liken their use to peeling back the layers of an onion.

I am now fresh out of metaphors.
